At the end of 2022, Hien and Linh are satisfied because they have achieved their goal: each month to explore at least one new land together in Vietnam.

Tran Thu Hien, living in Hai Phong, and Nguyen Thuy Linh, living in Hai Duong, both 22 years old, have been friends for three years. On December 28, two young girls sat down to review the places they had visited in the past year. They are satisfied with the number achieved: arriving in 13 provinces and cities (in order from January to December):Hanoi, Da Lat, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Ninh Thuan, Ha Nam, Quang Ninh, Binh Thuan, Hue, Son La, Hai Phong and Cao Bang. In many places, they return several times a year such as Da Nang, Da Lat, Hanoi. "So this year's KPIs have been met," Hien said.

Three years ago, when they were in their second year of university, Hien and Linh met through a mutual friend. After a few conversations, they realized they had a common interest in traveling, so they gradually became close. "We all want to conquer all 63 provinces and cities and be able to travel through Vietnam at least once," Hien said.

The idea of going to a different place every month was thought of by the two girls since 2021. But due to the epidemic, they had to postpone their plans to 2022. Initially, they went on 1-2 trips, but the more they went, the more they went. feel interested. Gradually, they went more. The trips continued one after another, before I finished this trip I was already thinking about the next one. "Looking back at the end of the year, I don't think I've traveled that much," Linh said.

The trip, if it is to provinces near where they live, is usually spontaneous. For long distances that need to travel by plane, they will plan 2-3 weeks in advance. The main purpose is to look for cheap tickets. For short trips, the cost per person is about 500,000 VND for two days. Longer journeys can cost up to 5-6 million VND. The shortest trips are usually two days like going to Ta Xua to hunt clouds or visiting Hanoi and Quang Ninh.

The longest trip with the most memorable memories was 8 days, to Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An, departing in September, right when Typhoon Naru landed. They still decided to leave because they "regretted the money for the tickets" they booked in advance. This time, besides Hien and Linh, there are two more friends.

When returning from Hue to Da Nang, the four people followed the instructions of Google Maps, instead of taking the original familiar route. The reason is that they test the new road faster. But in reality, that road leads to a highway for cars and motorbikes that does not have separate lanes. They could only walk with their motorbikes because at that time the storm came, heavy rain and strong winds, "people felt like they were blown away and couldn't drive".

As for Linh, the memory that made her most heart-stopping was in Ta Xua, Son La in October. They drove each other by motorbike at 5 o'clock. Because they slept late the previous day, the two girls fell asleep many times during the trip. "When I opened my eyes, I almost crashed into someone else's car," Linh recalled. After the incident, both were more alert and walked cautiously to avoid accidents. In addition to the above memories, trips also encounter obstacles such as falling off the bike, getting lost or being fined for overweight luggage. However, for both girls, every experience is a valuable lesson.

Hien said, traveling a lot helps her heal herself, bringing back more experiences and memories. Those are things that "money may not be able to buy". The most important thing is that on trips, Hien can be herself. “Trips give me many things. If I lose it, I'll probably just lose money because I travel a lot," Hien said. For her, losing money in exchange for real life experiences is worth it.

For Linh, traveling a lot, she gradually became proficient in packing and planning her next trips. In addition to being able to interact with many people and enjoy cuisine from all over the country, Linh found that through her trips she gradually became bolder and more confident. “I am more extroverted, and more confident in expressing myself. That's something I couldn't do before," Linh said.

Because each person lives in the same city, when they have a date to go out, they will meet at the most convenient place. The two girls' top priority is experience, "playing as much as possible". That's why they are still teased by their friends for "torturing themselves".

Both of their parents seemed comfortable with their children's trips, only telling them to be careful on the road. After seeing her child travel a lot, Hien's mother once asked: "Are you going to spend all your money and then stop?". But Hien knew that her mother was only joking because she had never stopped her child's hobbies.

Currently the two girls are resting at home with their parents, preparing for Tet. In the new year, they plan to break this year's record or go abroad.

“The last time, I read somewhere the saying: youth is still unfinished, as long as you breathe, you still have to go. That saying is very similar to my travel motto." Hien hopes to be able to visit as many places as possible, so that in the future she can smile when remembering her youthful years.
